MBCR is a program adapted from Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), a therapeutic combination of mindfulness meditation and gentle yoga. Participants learn a variety of mindfulness practices tailored to attend to the specific anxieties and stressors related to cancer. Appropriate for anyone with a personal history of cancer- both those in active treatment, palliative care, and remission. Created by Dr. Linda Carlson and Dr. Michael Speca at the University of Calgary, MBCR has been running as a clinical program for over 20 years and served thousands of patients.
The program is offered in two formats; an eight week program and a four week iMBCR program. Groups are typically 10-15 members. Meetings take place via Zoom. Currently recruiting for participation in a four iMBCR program. If interested please contact Gwen at gwen.dixon@Duke.edu
If the group format of MBCR doesn't appeal to you, or you're looking to continue your journey beyond the MBCR course, 1:1 coaching may be right for you.
